Our Relaxing Trip to Estrimont Spa Resort

We just had one of our most favorite vacations as a couple, and it was right here in Orford, Quebec. We went to Estrimont, a spa resort hotel, and stayed for two nights.

The Package

We got a special deal that included:

  • Two nights in the king signature suite with a fireplace, a little kitchen, and a private balcony.

  • A Murphy bed for additional guests.

  • Two bathrobes for use in the spa area.

  • A $25 per person credit at the Tomahawk Grill (the steakhouse).

  • A $10 per person credit for the buffet breakfast.

  • Two-for-one deals on alcoholic drinks and specialty coffees.

  • Free stay for dogs and cats

Pet-Friendly

It's worth noting that Estrimont is a pet-friendly place. They really make the place accessible for animals, and it's known as a spot where people like to bring their pets.

Spa Amenities

Of course, we took full advantage of the access to all the spa areas:

  • Scandinavian baths

  • Cold plunge

  • Indoor and outdoor heated pools

  • Infrared sauna

  • Finnish sauna

  • Nordic shower

While we were there, it was a bit too chilly to enjoy the outdoor activities like volleyball and tennis, but I imagine it would be really nice to experience everything in the summertime. Estrimont also has these cool beds called Neuro beds, which give you a kind of vibration or massage. They recommend using it for an hour before you sleep, and it almost feels like a guided meditation. It was a really interesting experience to try out. The hotel also has wireless internet and free electric car charging stations, which is a great perk for those with EVs.

Dining

On our first night, we went to the Tomahawk Grill. Dinner at the Tomahawk Grill was good – my husband had a steak, and I had a burger. The service was excellent; all the servers were really kind, and the food came out promptly. It wasn't too busy (we were there on a Sunday), but we thought the food was a solid 7.5 out of 10. One of the things I loved about the hotel was the fireplace outside the Tomahawk Grill, with some live music. There was a lady singing, and we got to sit by the fireplace, which became one of our favorite places to hang out.

Our Spa Day

The next day, I had access to the spa all alone (to shoot some content), which was really nice. The hot tubs were the perfect temperature, and if you got too hot, there was a cold shower and a cold plunge to cool off before getting back in. We also made sure to hit the sauna to dry off after the hot tub. What I love about spa resorts, compared to just going to a spa, is that you can go back and forth between the spa and your room. We spent the whole day going to the hot tub, sauna, and cold plunge, and then relaxing in our room. I also want to mention that the spa area, especially the hot tubs, is really beautiful at night. They have lights in the hot tubs, which creates a lovely atmosphere. And even though it was cold and raining a bit, it was still enjoyable because you're in the warm water.

Kitchenette

Another huge selling point for us was the kitchenette in the room. We brought our own food, and were able to heat it up easily. The kitchenette had a toaster oven, plates, and everything we needed. It was so great to be able to eat in our room! Next time, we'll probably eat all our meals there. I find that at hotels, you're often out looking for places to eat, which can get expensive. Bringing your own food saves money and makes the experience more cozy and relaxed. You can just stay in your pajamas, eat, and then head to the spa! The hotel also has these little areas where you can relax and grab a coffee. There's a place called Café Expresso Martini. Because our package included a two-for-one coffee, I got a nice latte, and we were able to sit and relax, almost like we were at a coffee shop. We also spent time by the fireplace.

Breakfast Buffet

With the hotel package, we each got $10 off per person to eat at the buffet breakfast, which was in the same place we had dinner the other day. We got a lovely seat by the window. They had a pretty big variety of foods, including:

  • Breads

  • Poppy seed bread

  • Jams

  • Cereal with nuts

  • Donuts (which looked handmade)

  • Muffins

  • Croissants

  • Smoothies

  • Cheese and olives

  • Ham

  • Fresh fruit

  • Potatoes

  • Sausages

  • Eggs

  • Bacon

  • Pancakes

We didn't want to stuff ourselves but enjoyed everything we got. Fancy coffee was also included; I got myself a mocha. It was a nice, relaxing breakfast.

Sustainable Practices

Estrimont is working on its Green Key certification, an eco-friendly certification in hospitality, and has several sustainable practices in place. They have a composting program with bins in guest rooms, the kitchen, and the meeting room, filling approximately one container per week. Guests are happy to participate, and staff is well-trained on the program. The hotel has also eliminated single-use plastic bottles in guest rooms, opting for refillable containers for shampoo and conditioner from a local, vegan, and cruelty-free company.

To support electric vehicle owners, Estrimont provides 12 free charging stations. The hotel also has a no-mow policy and has planted lavender, which has increased the presence of bees and other pollinators.

Estrimont is also renovating all of its bathrooms with eco-friendly, double-flush toilets to save water. Additionally, the hotel plants trees on the property every year to maintain the area's tree population.

Overall Experience

Overall, it was an incredibly relaxing vacation – probably one of the most relaxing we've ever had. My husband works a lot and really enjoyed it. He even joked that his nails were growing longer because he was so relaxed! We loved it so much that we said we're definitely going back again. The spa area is open from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, so you can go as many times as you want. On our full day there, we went to the spa area four times! It was well worth the money. We love going to spas, so having a spa resort was perfect for us. Even though it was raining for most of our visit, we were still able to enjoy the outdoor spa area. It wasn't raining too hard, and because you're in the warm water, it didn't really matter if you got a little wet. We can't wait to return to Estrimont!
