My 3 step Minimal Skincare Routine

Here are minimal low waste skincare products I’m currently using. My skincare routine has always been very minimal. I live a busy lifestyle and like it this way.

Tea tree oil soap

Step #1 I wash my face once a day, I always wash my face at night before I sleep. I use this tea tree oil soap from The Earthling co. It lasts a really long time. I love using bar soaps because they are more concentrated as I only need a tiny bit, it also comes wrapped in paper and no plastic container. Liquid soap is 80 percent water, because the product is lighter it uses less gas in transportation.

Step #2 I moisturize my face with a cream which I am currently developing. Cream has the ingredient water which is important to hydrate the skin.

Step #3 I use an oil to lock in all the moisture. I have been using oils in my skincare for over 15 years and I can’t live without oil in my skincare routine. Depending on how I feel I will use any of these Olona Earth oils.

Baobab oil is a natural oil that is extracted from the seeds of the baobab fruit, which is native to Africa. It has a number of potential benefits for the skin, hair, and overall health. Here are some of the benefits of baobab oil:

  1. Moisturizes and nourishes the skin: Baobab oil is rich in fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, which help to moisturize and nourish the skin. It can help to reduce dryness and flakiness, and improve the texture and tone of the skin.

  2. Anti-aging properties: Baobab oil is rich in vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. It can also help to stimulate the production of collagen, which is essential for maintaining youthful and healthy-looking skin.

  3. Soothes irritated skin: Baobab oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to soothe and calm irritated skin. It can also help to reduce redness and swelling, making it a useful remedy for conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

  4. Improves hair health: Baobab oil can help to nourish and strengthen hair, reducing breakage and promoting healthy growth. It can also help to improve the appearance of split ends and frizz, leaving hair looking shiny and healthy.

Unrefined baobab oil reminds me of coconut oil because if it is too cold it will solidify. A quick fix is placing it in some warm water. Baobab oil has a natural waxy or neutral scent.

Marula oil is a popular ingredient in skincare and haircare products due to its numerous benefits. Here are some of the benefits of marula oil:

  1. Moisturizing: Marula oil is a great moisturizer for the skin and hair. It contains high levels of fatty acids, such as oleic and linoleic acids, which help to hydrate and nourish the skin and hair.

  2. Anti-aging: Marula oil is rich in antioxidants, including vitamin E, which help to protect the skin from free radicals and prevent premature aging.

  3. Healing properties: Marula oil contains anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that can help to soothe and heal irritated or damaged skin.

  4. Reduces acne: Marula oil can help to reduce acne and other skin blemishes due to its antibacterial properties.

  5. Improves skin elasticity: Marula oil helps to improve skin elasticity, making it a great ingredient for anti-aging products.

  6. Hair conditioner: Marula oil can help to nourish and condition the hair, leaving it soft, smooth, and shiny.

  7. Non-comedogenic: Marula oil is non-comedogenic, which means it does not clog pores and is suitable for all skin types.

Overall, marula oil is a versatile ingredient that can provide numerous benefits for the skin and hair.

Unrefined Marula oil smells fermented to me. It smells like a mix of soya sauce and coffee, but the scent dissipates fast and I don’t mind it.

Jojoba oil is a versatile and popular natural oil that is extracted from the seeds of the jojoba plant. Here are some of the potential benefits of using jojoba oil:

  1. Moisturizes skin: Jojoba oil is an excellent moisturizer that can help keep skin soft, supple, and hydrated. It is similar to the natural oil (sebum) produced by our skin, so it is easily absorbed without leaving a greasy residue.

  2. Balances oil production: Jojoba oil can help regulate the skin's oil production, making it suitable for both dry and oily skin types. It can help unclog pores, prevent breakouts, and reduce the appearance of acne.

  3. Soothes skin: Jojoba oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe and calm irritated skin. It can also help reduce redness and swelling caused by skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

  4. Protects against environmental damage: Jojoba oil is rich in antioxidants that can protect the skin against free radicals and other environmental stressors that can damage the skin.

  5. Promotes hair health: Jojoba oil can be used as a natural hair conditioner that can help nourish and strengthen hair. It can also help prevent hair breakage and split ends.

  6. Fights fungal infections: Jojoba oil has antifungal properties that can help fight fungal infections such as athlete's foot and ringworm.

  7. Non-comedogenic: Jojoba oil is non-comedogenic, which means it won't clog pores or cause breakouts, making it suitable for all skin types.

Overall, jojoba oil is a versatile and beneficial natural oil that can be used to promote healthy skin and hair. However, it is always a good idea to do a patch test before using any new skincare product to ensure that it is safe for your skin.

Unrefined organic jojoba oil smells meaty and nutty. The scent dissipates really

Knowing the scents are in this oil is one way I can tell they are pure and unrefined. I enjoy that the oils are in it’s purest state.

Baobab Balm

At night before I go to sleep, instead of oil I made this balm using Baobab oil from Olona Earth. It is a lot thicker like Vaseline and it repairs my skin while I sleep.

Baobab Balm

4g Beeswax or Candelilla Wax

50g Baobab oil

Melt it down in a double boiler method and let it set in the fridge.

I love this simple 3 step skincare routine. I don’t spend too much time on my skin and happy it is simple and effective.
