Easy Package Free Bread
In a world where convenience often comes packaged in plastic, I've embarked on a personal journey to reduce waste and embrace sustainability in my kitchen. One of my most rewarding discoveries has been making my own package-free bread using a bread machine. Let me share with you how this simple switch has been a game-changer in my quest for a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
Say goodbye to plastic bags from store-bought loaves and hello to knowing exactly what goes into every slice of bread. With my trusty Hamilton Beach bread machine, which has faithfully served me for six years and counting, I've unlocked a world of homemade goodness right in my kitchen.
I opt for regular dry yeast over bread machine yeast, finding it just as effective and readily available in my pantry. Here's my go-to recipe:
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup of warm water
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons of regular yeast
3 tsp of oil
3 cups of flour
1 tsp salt
Instructions:
Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Allow the yeast to activate for about 10 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
Once activated, add oil, flour, and salt to the bread machine pan. Place in this order and do not mix.
Select the appropriate setting on your bread machine. This one is a medium size loaf.
Sit back and enjoy the delightful aroma of freshly baked bread filling your home.
Making bread at home not only reduces packaging waste but also allows me to customize the ingredients to suit my preferences. I love experimenting with adding seeds or herbs for extra flavor.
It's a small yet significant step towards reducing my environmental footprint and embracing a simpler, more mindful way of living.
So, why not join me on this journey to package-free bread? With just a few simple ingredients and a reliable bread machine, you too can enjoy the satisfaction of baking your own delicious loaves while making a positive impact on the planet.
